その上にグリーンが極端に小さく、ボールの転がりが驚くほど速いのです。確かに楽なプレーが許されるコースではありません。

何時も一人でプレーする癖がある私は、この日もお気に入りのキャディーを従え、六番ロング・ホールへ差し掛かかった。キャディーさんが意味ありげに前の組を指さし私の顔を覗き込んだ。

それは若い女性を見慣れている私でも驚くほどの、綺麗な女性を従えた同年配の同胞でした。
