最初の世界大戦 / The first World War

３６＞世界的規模の大戦は、１９１４年ヨーロッパに置いて３０ケ国以上が参戦し火ぶたが切られた。

オーストリアの皇太子夫妻がセルビアの民族主義者に暗殺された事が発端だが、資本主義の基で帝国主義政策を取る英国と、資本主義体制に遅れを取ったドイツとの戦いでもあったろう。

３７＞血みどろの戦いは４年にも及んだ。

戦いはドイツ・イタリア・オーストリア対イギリス・フランス・ロシアの図式を鮮明にし、この両軍へ各国が加担しアフリカやアジア諸国の分捕り合戦の様相はし烈を極めた。

米国はドイツが潜水艦による無差別攻撃断行を機に英国側に参戦したのである。

３８＞日本は英国の要請に従って、ドイツのアジア拠点であった中国の青島やドイツ領の南洋諸島を占領し、英国側の友軍として燃料補給などで大活躍をはくした。

戦時中に工業生産も五倍に成長し、中国へも２１項目の要求を提示し利権を獲得した。英国・米国・仏国などと肩を並べるに至った。

３９＞ロシアとオーストリアの間では民族紛争が燻っていた。

１９１７年ロシアでは政変でソビエト政権が誕生すると、新政権はドイツと二国間の無条件講和を模索し始めた。

その矢先にドイツとオーストリア国内に革命が起こって皇帝が崩壊し、四年間に渡る世界戦争は事実上の終戦となったのです。

４０＞１９１９年にベルサイユ条約(じょうやく)で国際連盟(こくさいれんめい)が発足した。

列強の帝国主義が民族の自立を妨げ、ドイツなどに厳しい制裁を科した事により、次の世界大戦へ大きな火種を残した事はいがめない。

民族や労働運動が各国で勢いを増し、これまでの西欧による世界支配は日米へと移行する引き金となった。
